Dr. Kholiquzzaman said ‘Green Climate Fund’ not enough

Green Climate Fund-GCF approved 100 million dollars for Bangladesh, which was supposed to be a grant but now has been termed as a loan.

The Bangladesh delegation has expressed its frustration over the Green Climate Fund (GCF) after returning from Madrid.

The 2019 United Nations Climate Change Conference, also known as COP25, is the 25th United Nations Climate Change Conference. It was held in Madrid, Spain, from December 2 to 13, 2019, under the presidency of the Chilean government.

Dr. Qazi Kholiquzzaman Ahmad, chairman of Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF) and negotiator from Bangladesh, said: “According to the Paris agreement, the pledged amount for GCF from developed countries was $100 billion till 2020 but GCF had got only $17 billion till date.

GCF approved 100 million dollars for Bangladesh, which was supposed to be a grant but now has been termed as a loan,” added Qazi.
